Los muebles que se usaron en los Juegos Panamericanos y Parapanamericanos serán entregados a las personas que fueron afectadas por los incendios.
En Chile se vive una emergencia debido a los incendios que azotan al país trasandino en la que hubo al menos 123 víctimas fatales y solo se pudieron reconocer 32. La Armada ha instado a los habitantes de Viña del Mar, Quilpué, Villa Alemana y Limache a no salir de sus casas debido a la gravedad de la situación. Persisten 165 incendios en 10 regiones del país, y se sospecha que podrían haber sido intencionales.
Esto por este contexto que desde la organización que desde la organización de Santiago 2023, decidieron donar el mobiliario que se utilizó en la Villa Panamericana, durante los Juegos Panamericanos y Parapanamericanos. Se estima que 4.500 set de camas, colchones, veladores, mesas, sillas, sábanas, frazadas, percheros, tendederos, toallas y basureros lleguen a las personas afectadas.
Por último, el presidente Gabriel Boric mostró su agradecimiento a Santiago 2023, al Instituto Nacional del Deporte y al Comité Olímpico Chileno.
